Doubled haploid generations of Oriental tobacco lines obtained in vitro by induced androgenesis and gynogenesis

Ten doubled haploid generations of two plants of the hybrid F2 (Kozarsko 541 x Plovdiv 7), developed in vitro by induced androgenesis and gynogenesis were studied in field conditions. The morphological traits of the dihaploid generations, obtained by both methods,were within the range characteristics of the initial hybrid. The differences between the generations, obtained by induced gynogenesis, were insignificant, while those between the doubled haploids, obtained by induced androgenesis, were considerable. The data provide the possibility to apply various methods for development of doubled haploids depending on the breeding purposes.
