Twenty male lambs from the local Zapadnostaroplaninska breed (10 in each group) were reared indoor and on pasture from 75 to 135 days of age. The rearing system influenced the fatty acid composition of the triglycerides and phospholipids in m. Longissimus dorsi(m. LD) and m. Semimembranosus (m. SM). The content of 18:2 (n-6) in triglycerides is significantly higher in m. LD (P0.05) and m.SM (P0.01) in the animals reared indoor. In the pastured lambs significant increase in the content of n-3 fatty acids is observed.
