Dimensions of ponds and timing in stocking of fingerlings - factors that influence production [of carp yearlings]
2005
Matic, A.(RG Ecka a.d., Zrenjanin (Serbia and Montenegro))
Quantity of production and duration of production period are primary factors of rentability of any production also carps. Individual mass 70-100 g of carp yearlings is the base for the choice of two or three years period of market fish production and the size of a pond and production per hectare significantly influence this aim. Analyzed results of production of carp yearlings at R.G. Ecka a.d., Zrenjanin (Serbia and Montenegro) in 2004 have shown that a size of a pond is the limiting factor for the production quantity since ponds of the size 0.12 ha (16 ponds) had the production of 2.476 kg/ha while the pond of 20 ha only 1007 kg/ha. Postponement in stocking period of 20 days had a consequence in impossibility to obtain desired individual mass of 80 g but it was only 34 g. Such yearlings mass forces a producer for three years production and because of market demand even four years.
