2005
Macic, V.(Institut za biologiju mora, Kotor (Serbia and Montenegro))E-mail:[email protected]
The invasive algae Caulerpa racemosa was found in the Montenegrin coast (Adriatic sea), during September 2004. Up to the present, this is only one population that has been found in Montenegrin part of Adriatic sea. Surface with this algae was about 1.5 square m, so actions of eradication: manual extraction, copper and lime treatment than covering with black PVC foil, were organized to prevent further expansion in the area. Regarding that decrease in species diversity and changes on the structure of benthic community has already been reported as a result of Caulerpa racemosa invasion in Mediterranean sea, monitoring of this locality and rising of public awareness are necessary, as much as further investigation of surrounding area.
