Shingles are normally of lengths of 40cm, 45cm or 60cm and thickness range from 1cm to 1.9cm at the butt end and may taper to about .31cm or less at the head. The width varies from about 10cm to 35cm and are sold either by the thousand or by the square pack. A square pack is quantity which at specific exposure will cover an area of 100 square feet ( approximately 9.29 sq m. The paper discusses the domestic uses of wood singles and the effective ways of removing defects to ensure its long term use.
