Levels of iron, silver, zinc, and lead in oranges and avocados from two gold-rich towns compared with levels in an adjacent gold-deficient town.
1994
Golow, A. A. | Laryea, J. N.
Concentrations of iron and silver were higher in oranges and avocados from the gold-mining towns of Obuasi and Konongo than in those from the non-gold-mining Kumasi city, Ghana. Zinc concentrations were similar in fruits from Kumasi and Obuasi, but were very high in fruits from Konongo, with no apparent explanation. Lead concentration did not differ significantly between fruits from the 3 towns. Metal concentrations were generally higher in the peel than in the flesh of fruits.
