Differential growth characteristics of two selected provenances of Cordia alliodora in Ghana
1996
Nwoboshi, L. C.
The linear growth and biomass production and partitioning characteristics, the stemwood and stembark green and basic densities, bark thickness and moisture content of the stem of two selected Cordia alliodora provenances (18/77 and 19/77)were assessed and compared. Provenance 19/77 was generally superior in linear growth and biomass production but lighter in weight than provenances 18/77. Bole wood formation also tends to be slower in 19/77. It is suggested that impact of the lower basic density on wood properties for the desired end use be further explored before the final choice between the two provenances.
