Performance of groundnut promising lines across environments

Evaluation of yield and stability of groundnut promising lines was conducted at 11 locations, i.e. Tuban and Blitar (East Java), Pati, Jepara, and Sukoharjo (Central Java), two locations at Sekotong Barat-Lombok Barat, Banjarangkan and Toyan (Bali), Natar Lampung, and Prambanan-Yogyakarta, during the rainy and dry seasons of 1998/1999. Fourteen lines, including two improved varieties Mahea and Zebra as check varieties, were arranged in randomized completely block design replicated three times. Each line was planted in 2.4 m x 5 m plot size, 40 cm x 10 cm planting distance, 1 plant/hill. Fertilizers of 50 kg Urea + 100 kg SP-36 + 100 kg KCl/ha were applied at the planting time. Data collected were pod yield, plant height, and number on pods per plant. Line's stability was assessed using stability parameters proposed by Eberhart and Russell (1966) and rank-sum statistics proposed by Kang (1990). The highest of average pod yield was obtained at Yogyakarta (1.88 t/ha), and the lowest was that in Bali and Blitar (0.97 t/ha). The yield range of the tested lines was 0.9-1.5 t/ha, with 1.3 t/ha for the average. Mahesa and Zebra produced 1.0 t/ha and 1.4 pod yield/ha, respectively. Four lines (ICGV 87358, LM/ICGV 87165-88-B-22, K/PI 298115-90-B-3 and K/PI 405132-90-B1-2-50) produced high yield and were stable across environments, they were comparable to Zebra and were better than Mahesa. These four lines were belong to Valencia moderately resistant to rust and late leaf spot diseases, resistant to bacterial wilt disease, medium seed size, persegi-ellipse seed shape, plant seed color. Two lines, i.e. K/PI 405132-90-B1-2-50 and ICGV 87358 were the most preferred lines by farmers surround the trial sites in Bali

Penelitian untuk mengevaluasi daya hasil dan stabilitas galur-galur harapan kacang tanah dilaksanakan di 11 lokasi, yaitu Tuban dan Blitar (Jawa Timur), Pati, Jepara, dan Sukoharjo (Jawa Tengah, Sekotong Barat-Lombok Barat di dua lokasi (Nusa Tenggara Barat), Banjarangkan dan Toyan (Bali), Natar-Lampung, dan Yogyakarta, pada MH 1998/1999 dan MK 1999. Empat belas galur harapan kacang tanah, termasuk varietas pembanding Mahesa dan Zebra, disusun dalam rancangan percobaan acak kelompok, diulang tiga kali. Setiap galur ditanam pada plot berukuran 2,4 m x5 m, jarak tanam 40 cm x 10 cm, 1 tanaman/lubang tanam. Tanaman dipupuk 50 kg Urea + 100 kg SP-36 + 100 kg KCl per hektar, yang diberikan secara larikan seluruhnya pada saat tanam. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah hasil, tinggi tanaman, dan jumlah polong isi per tanaman. Penilaian stabilitas hasil galur-galur yang diuji berdasarkan metode Eberhart dan Russel (1966) dan statistik penjumlahan-ranking (Kang, 1990). Rata-rata hasil polong tertinggi diperoleh di Yogyakarta (1,88 t/ha), terendah di Bali dan Blitar (0,97 t/ha). Kisaran hasil polong galur-galur yang diuji adalah 0,9-1,5 t/ha, dengan rata-rata 1,3 t/ha. Rata-rata hasil polong varietas Mahesa dan Zebra masing-masing adalah 1,0 t/ha dan 1,4 t/ha. Terdapat empat galur (ICGV 87358, LM/ICGV 87165-88-B-22, K/PI 298115-90-B-3 dan K/PI 405132-90-B1-2-50) yang mempunyai daya hasil dan stabilitas setara dengan varietas Zebra, lebih baik dibandingkan varietas Mahesa. Keempat galur tersebut bertipe Valencia, agak tahan terhadap penyakit bercak daun dan karat, tahan penyakit layu bakteri, berukuran biji sedang, bentuk biji persegi-lonjong, warna biji tanaman. Galur K/PI 405132-90-B1-2-50 dan ICGV 87358 mempunyai karakteristik tanaman, polong dan biji yang paling disukai oleh petani kooperator di lokasi pengujian di Bali, lebih disukai dibandingkan Zebra
