High beta carotene palm oil microencapsulation use of absorption sio2 and Orifice process technique

Microencapsulation is a coated process of nucleus particles which are solid liquid or gas with use of special coated, that makes nucleus particles have good physic and chemistry behaviour. The stability of three techniques of microencapsulation was evaluated for changes in total carotenoid content during the storage at 27 deg. C, 37 deg. C, and 47 deg. C for 98 days. Total carotenoid content was determined by spectroscopy and continued by HPLC for beta carotene content. The effect of storage on peroxide value was also determined. Orifice process technique microcapsule had the lowest total carotenoid concentration (74.82 ppm), good stability on peroxide value, the highest water content (71.16 percent) and the lowest water absorption. Similarities were found between SiO2 absorption technique of microcapsule and modification orifice process technique of microcapsule on total carotenoid concentration (462.09 ppm and 401.92 ppm). But there were high degradation of carotenoid and high changes on peroxide value during storage on modification orifice process technique. The shelf life of microencapsulation was calculated by changes on total carotenoid. Orifice process technique of microencapsulation had the best shetf life (414 days), absorption SiO2 technique of microencapsulation (255 days) and the lowest shelf life was modification orifice process technique of microencapsulation (169 days). Absorption SiO2 technique was found as the best technique for microencapsulation process of palm oil rich in beta carotene
