Effect of rice straw mulching and P fertilizer on leaf area-index, chlorophyll content, and yield of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L.) at different planting distance

إنجليزي. A field experiment was conducted to study the effects of paddy straw mulching and P fertilizer on leaf area index, chlorophyll content, and yield of pigeonpea at different planting distance. The experiment was carried out from July 2001 until October 2001 at Mpanau, Sigi Baromaru District, Central Sulawesi. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with planting distance (30 cm x 20 cm, 40 cm x 20 cm and 50 cm x 20 cm) as the main plot, and the combination of paddy straw mulching (0, 2, 4 and 6 t/ha) with P fertilizer (0, 50, 100 and 150 kg/ha) as the sub plot with three replications. ICPL 84031 was used as genotype indicator. Result showed that the highest LAI of ICPL 84031 genotype was obtained at 40 cm x 20 cm planting distance and the application of 150 kg/ha P and 4 t/ha paddy straw mulching. Increasing the rate of P resulted in the increase in chlorophyll content. At 30 cm x 20 cm planting distance, the maximum yield of seed (1.89 t/ha) was obtained with mulching level of 4.83 t/ha and P rate of 125.03 kg/ha.

Suatu percobaan lapangan telah dilakukan untuk mengkaji pengaruh mulsa jerami padi dan pupuk P terhadap indeks luas daun (ILD), kadar khlorofil, dan hasil kacang gude galur ICPL 84031 pada berbagai jarak tanam. Percobaan dilaksanakan dari Juli 2001 sampai Oktober 2001 di Desa Mpanau, Palu, Sulawesi Tengah. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan petak terpisah dengan jarak tanam (30 cm x 20 cm, 40 cm x 20 cm dan 50 cm x 20 cm) sebagai petak utama dan kombinasi mulsa jerami padi (0, 2, 4, dan 6 t/ha jerami padi) dengan pupuk P (0, 50, 100 dan 150 kg/ha P) sebagai anak petak yang diulang tiga kali. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa ILD tertinggi kacang gude galur ICPI 84031 dicapai pada jarak tanam 40 cm x 20 cm dengan aplikasi 150 kg/ha P bersama 4 t/ha mulsa jerami padi. Pada setiap aplikasi P dengan takaran lebih tinggi, kadar khlorofil juga lebih tinggi. Pada jarak tanam 30 cm x 20 cm, hasil maksimum (1.89 t/ha) diperoleh dari takaran optimum 4.83 t mulsa jerami padi dan 125.03 kg/ha P
