The goals of these studies are to supply us with useful data toward the endogenous development of a mountainous rural community by proving a part of the life structures of inhabitants in that community. In this paper, the author set up those people as "living people in that community," made a hypothesis from a different point of view and demonstrated it. It is most difficult for him to briefly define "living people in that community." If he insists on doing so, the definitions are as follows. They turn out and lead their livies in the same area. They think that the succession and continuity of the traditional regional culture including their lives close to nature are important as daily life norms. They show us their life cultures in that community concerned. He drew five inhabitants of a forestry-based mountainous village in Gifu Prefecture, woodwork makers engaged in forestry industry from thirties to sixties and chose them as main subjects of the survey. Their social positions and roles were different and they belonged to the various economical classes depending on their ages in the village. They were not the same at all. The method of the survey was interview one. The details of interview were as follows: their attributes, for example, family composition, life behavioral time of a day, their present incomes, their ways how to think e.g. thier views of the world and the life, their life histories and their concrete cases of the life conditions, their relationships between their personal lives and their lives in the total community and so forth. He tried to understand thier total lives and life cultures in that community througt their many questions and he showed the third party had evaluated them. In spite of a few cases and imbalanced occupations of surveyees analyzed, the results of case studies are as follws in addition to a proof of above-mentioned definitions. The characteristics of diligence, a strong sense of responsibility, prides people. These ones were showing signs of endogenous development in that community for the future.
