We investigated the relationship between plant constituents and flower set after heating of satsuma mandarin trees grown under the summer-bearing shoot system in a plastic house where heated from mid-November to early December. l . As the starch content and starch/N value in summer leaves and shoots at the initiation of heating increased, the total number of flowers and the number of leafless inflorescent grew increased and the number of current shoots decreased after heating . 2.To give sufficient flower set after heating, the starch content in the summer leaves 6O days after they turn completely green has to be more than 5.O%. 3 . To give sufficient flower set after heating, the starch content in the summer leaves at the initiation of heating has to be more than 5.O%.
