This thesis is an investigation at the Webuye Pan Paper Mills Limited of impregnation of wood which is of great importance for Kenya a country facing great wood deficit. There is a necessity for proper preservation to increase the service life of timber and reduce pressure on forests. CCA treated Eucalyptus saligna poles used by Kenya Power and Telecommunication Cooperation (KPTC) for transmission fail prematurely resulting in great financial losses and dissemination of harmful chemical components into the environment. The results of this study have led to increased Knowledge of the severity of decay hazards in different regions of the country and recommended measures to increase the effectiveness CCA treatment and service life's of traded poles.
