Results of project effects survey: An assessment of the effectiveness of schools, groups and contact farmers in forestry extension
1995
Maina, Anthony | Veltheim, Taina
This report is about the project effects survey which was purposefully designed to answer questions in regard to the performance and effectiveness of the project`s extension channels: schools, groups and contact farmers. The survey included two components: a sample or questionnaire survey and participatory investigation. The questionnaire survey was intended to collect general information on the forestry extention programme while the participatory investigation was expected to give qualitative information. The Project was able to effectively permit acces to material inputs and promote acquisition of materials on people`s own initiative. The most serious material constraint was acquisition of seeds which, with further project interventions, can significantly contribute to higher adoption rates of tree-related extention practices. The results of the survey are a pointer to the effect that the project is in the right place and direction in achieving its long-term objective if the forestry development tempo is maintained.
