The proceeding is about the nineth congress of the African Association for Biological Nitrogen Fixation 25-29th september,2000, Nairobi,Kenya. It brought together a total of 79 scientist from 17 countries from Asia, Latin America, Australia, Europe and Africa. AABNF is a cognisant of the extensive research and activities in some African countries in the area of Biological Nitrogen Fixation (BNF)and the individual experimentation in some other African countries The conference was organised into six plenery sessions which covers the following topics; Benefits and limitations of technologies in Africa, BNF in free-living and associative systems, Biochemistry and physiology of N2 Fixation, Rhizobial interactions with other soil biota, Diversity, ecology and characterization of rhizoba,and Molecular advances in BNF. physiology
