Comparative responses of seedlings of four arid zone tree species to salinity
1999
Khalil, Ayoub A.
The physiological and morphological responses of seedlings of four arid zone tree species to salinity were investigated under glass house conditions; effects of salinity on photosynthesis stomata conductance, transpiration, etc. These parameters were adversely affected by the higher levels of salinity (>5ds m-1) and no growth was observed at salinity level of 20 ds m-1 The results of this study pared the way to rank the studied species based on their tolerance to salinity in to three categories, viz: intolerant (A. tumidal, intermediate (A. seyal) and tolerant (A. cyanophyla and parkinsonia aucleata).
