Using monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), the conglutination testdetected Vibrio cholerae O1 and O139 serogroups both in the bacterialculture and in the stool specimens. Detection of V. cholerae O1 andO139 from the cultures of different V. cholerae O1 and O139 strainsand non-O1 and non- O139 strains showed a specificity of 100%, asensitivity of 100% and a 100% positive predictive value. Among the146 stool samples tested by the conglutination test, 36 were culturepositive, but 33 were conglutination test positive showing a specificityof about 92%. All the culture negative samples were negative in theconglutination test indicating a specificity of 100%.
