This experiment was carried out at Shambat Research Station Farm to evaluate the efficacy of Betatol 50, Betatol 20, Danitol 20 and Malathion 57 each with three dosage rates for the control of tomato insect pests. Danitol-S 50 EC, Prempt 20 and Malathion 57 were used as standard treatments in addition to the untreated control. Betatol 50, Betatol 20 and Danitol 20 with all tested dosage rates showed comparable performance. Betatol (Fenpropathrin 45 + Fenitrothion 5) 50 EC at 315 g a.i./fed (0.63 litre/fed) and Malathion 57 EC at 1140 g a.i./fed (2 litre/fed.) were recommended for the control of B. tabaci and H. armigera on tomato to Prempt 20 and Danitol-S 50 against whitefly Bemisia tabaci and African bollworm Helicoverpa armigera with highly significant difference compared with untreated control. Moreover, these insecticides significant reduced the percentage of infected plants with tomato yellow leaf curl virus disease and increased tomato yield compared with untreated control
