Optimization of natural rubber latex deproteinization by enzymes

Deproteinized natural rubber (DPNR) is the partially purified form of natural rubber suitable for medical and engineering applications. Removal of proteins from concentrated latex by Alcalase at optimal condition used in this research gives rise to DPNR of 0.05-0.06 g percent N within 10 hours and exhibits good processibility. Deproteinization of fresh field latex from 3 rubber clones: PB 5/51, GT 1 and RRIM 600 resulted in DPNR of various Mooney viscosity (85-45 units), and best values of g percent N (0.09-0.16) at optimal condition by Papain treatment within 2 hours and showed satisfactory physical properties of both raw rubber and vulcanized rubber comparing to control non-deproteinized rubber.
