Study on the effect of in-store drying

For development of simple drying method, each one air duct was equipped in two experiment 5 ton corn cribs. Ambient or heated air was ventilated with 3 kw fans at blowing rate of 60 cubic m/sec. Ventilation was conducted two hours a day for 15 days. Kernel moisture content reduced form 23.7 and 23.8 percent to 16.2 and 10.9 percent by ambient and heated air blowing, respectively. In heated air drying, kernel moisture content was estimated to be reduced to the safe level of blow 14.5 percent on the 9th day of the treatment. Aflatoxin contamination was also controlled, although ventilation started after one week storage without treatment.
