Lumbie, A.U. | Piearce, G.D. | Shaw, P.
A review is given of past, present and prospective future work on indigenous forest inventories in zimbabwe, with emphasis on techniques employed, mainly in the Kalahari Sand forest areas in wetern Matabeleland. These forets contian the main indigenous species exploited commercially, namely Baikiaea plurijuga (Zambezi teak), Guibourtia coleosperma (Zimbabwean mahagany) and Pterocarpus angolensis (mukwa). A particular need and intention is to construct volume tables for other timber species that are commercially exploited, such as Afzelia quanzensis, Brachystegia spiciformis, Julbernardia globiflora and Ricinodendron rautanenii.
