Research results of studies of methods applied for the determination the nitrate and ammonium nitrogen content in degraded peat soils basing on plural-component extracting are presented. The methods are basing on extraction of nitrates and exchange ammonia dissolved by compounds of soil phosphorus and potassium with 2 M solution of acetic acid in the ratio of 1:20 with the subsequent photometric determination of nitrate nitrogen and exchange ammonia in the form of coloured compounds. Research results showed that determination of nitrate and ammonium on degraded peat soils in the ration soil: extractant 1:2.5 is useless because of low soil wettability. Content of nitrate and ammonium nitrogen content in degraded peat soils closely depends on the content of organic matter. The estimation of repeatability of outcomes of repeat determination is given. Deflections from average index was up to 8,7% for nitrate nitrogen and 7,3% for ammonium nitrogen. That is much lower than according to application of other methods. The close connection between organic matter, nitrate nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen contents in soil is shown
