In large parts of the population, agriculture has a negative image. One reason for this is the growing distance between consumers and agricultural producers, which adversely affects the flow of information within the agricultural food chain. On the other hand, requests for informa-tion on production processes will increase considerably in the future. In this respect, information will protect the farmer. For this reason, specific audit programmes with a defined information concept are to be developed for four directly related areas (upstream and downstream markets, government and society). In addition, relevant interfaces must be identified and implemented. All of this could be accomplished with little financial input.
