Gavrichenko, N.I.(Belarus State Academy of Agriculture, Gorki (Belarus))
The endocrine status and blood metabolic structure of cows with postoestrus uterine bleeding was studied. It was found that the most important reason for postoestrus uterine bleeding (Metrorrhagia) of cows was the disfunction of the anterior pituitary which was shown by the low level of follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and the high level of the luteinizing hormone (LH) at the day of sexual heat. Changes in the balance of gonadotropin caused the ovary steroidogenesis: lowering of estradiol content and increasing of progesterone, testosterone and estriol content. Research results showed that the low level of estradiol in the period of sexual heat and higher level of estradiol after sexual heat caused the weak development of sexual libido, occurrence of uterine bleeding and the subsequent decrease of the reproductive ability of animals
