Dense stands of alfalfa, clover and other perennial forage legumes provide highly suitable habitats for the reproduction of a large number of pests, pathogens and weeds, which not only reduce yields and hay and seed quality directly but also shorten the life spans of these forage plants. This paper gives an overview and discusses the importance of the most economically important harmful organisms in alfalfa and clover.
