In this thesis it is postulated the mathematical model of human exposure to persistent organic pollutants through the trophic web, based on physical and chemical properties of the pollutants, geographical and meteorological parameters of the environment, physiological characteristics of living organisms and POPs concentrations in the atmosphere and in soil. Model involves definitions of human exposure factors via every member of the terrestrial food chain. On the basis of the postulated mathematical relations the software DexPOP was created - the program for calculation of average daily exposure of humans to persistent pollutants.
