Basic agrochemical properties and macroelement content of serpentine soils covered with natural meadows and utilized for hay gathering and pasture, have been investigated. In the past, meadows have been differently fertilized by organic or mineral fertilizers. The results obtained indicate that analyzed soils have slightly acid reaction (pH in KCL- 5-6), high humus content (10-17%) and high content of organic forms of nitrogen (N=0.5-0.9%). The content of available forms of N, P and K varies among different locations, amounting: NH4+NO3-N=13-77 mg/kg, P2O5=0.3-51 mg/kg and K2O=8-40 mg/kg/ The content of available Ca are within optimal one, while available magnesium is very high, resulting in very narrow and unfavourable Ca/Mg ratio for optimal plant nutrition (Ca/Mg=0.4-1.4:1)/
