Effect of cultivar and environment on quality characteristics of wheat grow in semiarid condition

The objective of this study was to determine relative contributions of genotypes, environment, and GxE interaction to variation in quality characteristics of winter wheat and the genetic and phenotypic correlation between these traits. During a three-year period at three locations (9 environments), 16 winter wheat varieties were investigated. Genotype, environment, and interaction effects were found to significantly influence the variation of all quality parameters. Different values of correlation coefficients show that the improvement of one trait can cause advantages or disadvantages in other traits. Therefore, simultaneous breeding for more characters is the most efficient method for developing high-quality varieties.
