The Suva Planina (Serbia) occupies an almost central position in the Balkan Peninsula. It is in immediate proximity of the valleys of the Nisava and the Juzna Morava rivers, with international traffic lines which are the main directions of the movement of tourists. However, the qualities of Suva Planina are known only to a very small number of people. Suva Planina is today, touristically, a totally undeveloped area, with a pronounced rural, economically backwards, depopulational character, with a strong tendency of the population to leave, as migrant workers. But Suva Planina is rich with varied potential tourist motives, economically highly preserved, with authentic local foods such as kackkaval hard cheese, and other products. All this points to a doubly justified need for a tourist valorization of this region. Firsty, using this natural potential to satisfy the increasing ecological needs of the urban man, and secondly, giving an opportunity to the local population to stay and survive in their homeland. This paper is aimed to facilitate such an undertaking, pointing out the insufficiently evaluated, but really very good tourist opportunities, and to give concrete proposals for their exploitation.
