The aim of this investigation was to examine the compaction of soil, chemical and microbiological properties of soil on 0-25 cm and 25-40 cm depth as well the yield of maize and wheat in headland and inside of field. The experiment was conducted on PIK Becej, Serbia. Compaction of soil in headland was higher 59-102% under maize and 25.96-31.17 under wheat. Soil was neural, with enough N, P and K and with higher content of humus in headline. Microbiological activity was high in all samples, but lower in headland on depth 25-40 cm. The yield was higher in inside of field (42.81% of maize and 51.35% of wheat).
