Three-year trials were established to study the effect of rye hybrid and population varieties, different conditions and intensities of cultivation (including the ecological one) on some agronomical, milling and baking grain qualities. The studied variables, i.e. thousand-kernel weight, grain size, grain specific weight, protein content, Falling number, maltose value and test volume, were variably, but in most cases significantly, affected by the type of the variety, cultivation condition and intensity, locality and year. Except for the protein content, all variables were also significantly influenced by the weather. On the contrary, the ash content was not significantly affected by any of the factors studied. In conclusion, the ecological cultivation had a favourable effect on the technological quality of both groups of rye varieties.
