Estimation of genetic parameters for grain yield and yield related traits in tef [Eragrostis tef (Zucc.) Trotter] [Ethiopia]

إنجليزي. The production of tef has been constrained by the low yielding capacity of the crop. A field experiment at three environments was carried out in Ethiopia to investigate genetic variation and relationships among grain yield and yield related traits using twenty tef genotypes under three N rates (0, 4 and 8 g N/square m fertiliser rates). The grain yield (g/square m) (h**2 = 0.74) and total biomass (g/square m) (h**2 = 0.88) had high broad-sense heritabilities. Variation in grain yield was related to the variation in total biomass [r sub(g) = 0.58; r sub(p) = 0.60] and seed weight/plant [r sub(g) = 0.46; r sub(p) = 0.46]. The weak correlation between grain yield and harvest index [r sub(g) = 0.24; r sub(p) = 0.38] was due to strong correlation between grain yield and total biomass as well as the negative correlation between harvest index and the latter [r sub(g) = -0.50; r sub(p) = -0.65]

È stato condotto un esperimento di campo in tre ambienti, in Etiopia, per studiare la variazione genetica e i rapporti fra resa in granella e caratteri correlati alla resa in granella utilizzando 20 genotipi di tef a tre livelli di N (livelli di fertilizzazione pari a 0, 4 e 8 g N/m quadrato). La resa in granella (g/metro quadrato) (h**2 = 0,74) e la biomassa totale (g/metro quadrato) (h**2 = 0,88) presentavano elevate ereditarietà in senso lato. La variazione della resa in granella era correlata con la variazione della biomassa totale [r inf(g) = 0,58; r inf(p) = 0,60] e al peso del seme/pianta [ r inf(g) = 0,46; r inf(p) = 0,46]. La bassa correlazione fra resa in granella e indice di raccolto [r inf(g) = 0,24; r inf(p) = 0,38] era dovuta alla forte correlazione fra resa in granella e biomassa totale, tanto quanto alla correlazione negativa fra indice di raccolto e quest´ultima [r inf(g) = -0,50; r inf(p) = -0,65].]
