Preliminary results on the adaptation of Alyogyne hakeifolia in Mediterranean environments [Apulia]

إنجليزي. The economic growth of the last years has favoured a large increase in the demand for ornamental botanical species to introduce in the National floriculture market. Such a demand comes from both public bodies and single individuals who share more and more a growing interest towards the creation of new green areas in the town. Italy, which is the Mediterranean Country par excellence, boasts great floristic resources that are, however, still unable to keep up with the market seeking always novelties. A logical consequence has been the investigation in other but climatically similar Countries. The species Alyogyne hakeifolia, tested in this research, is characterised by a light canopy made of glabrous, soft, deeply cut and linear leaves of 5 to 10 cm with a tip often tapered and bright green. The flowers, in the apical position, are largely sized and mauve-coloured tending to light blue and with the spadix of dark violet colour. These features make it a species of great ornamental value. The biometric observations have concerned the morphological, vegetative and phenological properties. As for vegetative properties, measurements were made for: maximum plant height (excluding pot height); canopy circumference; number of primary branches; canopy density. As to the phenology, the following parameters were tested: start and end of flowering, its length and flowering abundance. The results of the research were actually positive because A. hakeifolia showed a high degree of Winter hardiness, tolerating both cold and hot periods; moreover, it showed a good resistance to pest attacks, thus confirming, as a whole, the interest for this new plant of Australian origin

Il progresso economico degli ultimi anni ha fatto aumentare notevolmente la richiesta di specie botaniche ornamentali da poter inserire sul mercato della floricoltura nazionale. Tale richiesta proviene sia da enti pubblici, sia da privati cittadini, che sottolineano la loro approvazione ogni qualvolta sorge una nuova area verde nella loro città. L´Italia, Paese mediterraneo per eccellenza, vanta un vasto patrimonio floristico, ma che, comunque, non riesce ad essere al passo con le richieste di mercato sempre alla ricerca di novità. Logica conseguenza, quindi, appare l´esplorazione di altri Paesi, seppur lontani, con condizioni climatiche simili alle nostre. Alyogyne hakeifolia, oggetto di questa ricerca, è caratterizzata da una chioma leggera con foglie lunghe da 5 a 10 cm, glabre, tenere, profondamente incise e lineari, con l´estremità spesso affusolata e di colore verde brillante. I fiori, in posizione apicale, di dimensioni ragguardevoli, sono di colore malva tendente all´azzurro tenue e con spadice di un intenso colore violaceo. Queste caratteristiche l´hanno resa una specie di grande interesse ornamentale. Le osservazioni biometriche hanno riguardato le caratteristiche morfologiche, vegetative e fenologiche. Per quanto riguarda le caratteristiche vegetative, sono stati presi in esame: altezza massima della pianta (esclusa l´altezza del vaso); circonferenza della chioma; numero di rami primari; compattezza della chioma. Per quanto riguarda i caratteri fenologici, sono stati considerati inizio e fine della fioritura, durata della stessa ed è stato valutato il carattere abbondanza di fioritura. I risultati della ricerca sono stati alquanto positivi, poiché A. hakeifolia ha dimostrato un alto grado di rusticità, tollerando sia il periodo freddo, sia il periodo estivo; inoltre ha dimostrato una certa resistenza agli attacchi parassitari, confermando, quindi, nel complesso, l´interesse per questa nuova pianta di provenienza australiana
