Antimicrobial and deodorant agents in 2995 kinds of commercially available antimicrobial/deodorant products were researched in 71 stores in cooperation with the public health institute and the administrative department of Osaka prefecture for 9 years since 1991. The research revealed that the increase of kinds of antimicrobial producs was remarkable. The results were installed in "The Data Base(DB)on Commercially Available Products Research", which is a component of "the DB System on Antimicrobial/Deodorant Agents". The DB linked with the other data bases on active ingredients (AIs)and so on. Out of 2995 products investigated, 665 products(22.2%)showed the name of AIs in the labelings and AIs of 559 products (18.7%)could be estimated from processing names in the labelings. As the results, AIs were proven in only 1058 out of 2995 products(35.3%). Therefore, consumers can not obtain enough information on antimicrobial/deodrant agents containing in commercially available products. Moreover, the DB System on Antimicrobial/Deodorant Agents was also useful for analytical investigation, and the safety management of household products.
