An analysis of relationship between agricultural water's multi-functional roles and attributes of the people in urban and agricultural areas

An multi-regression analysis of relationship between multi-functional roles of irrigation water in the Kanazawa "urban area" and the Shichika "agricultural area" and attributes of the related people was carried out. "The purposes of present water use", "Roles of irrigation water" and "desired improvement for irrigation water" were analyzed itself. "The purposes of present water use" were classified into four questionnaires categories, labeled agriculture-support, daily living, life-friendly and tap water. "Roles of irrigation water" and "esired improvement for irrigation water" were classified into three categories, "daily living", "life friendly" and "environmental water". The four categories and the three categories were analyzed according to the relationship of the attributes of the people. In the purposes of present water use, the three major items, "snow disposal areas walking along the canal" and "fire prevention function" were also analyzed. Significant items over a 5% limit were statistically considered. The Kanazawa area had a clear positive relation with the maintenance function and the age of the people, and a negative relation to the distance to the canal. The living period, the share of agriculture income, the income for the individual house and the sex of the people were divided into positive and negative relation. In the Shichika area, on the other hand, the multi-functional roles of irrigation water and the attribute of the people has very clear cu relationships. The dominant positive factors were the age of the people, the living period and the income for the individual house, and the negative factors were the sex of the people, the share of agriculture income, the distance to the canal and maintenance times of the canal.
