Experiments were conducted in 2001 to analyze the effect of 2-yeas old branches strapping with covered insulated wire (partial girdling) on developmental stages and numbers of female flower buds, colour (a(*) and b(*) values) and dry matter percentages of shoot and leaf blade in monoecios-type Japanese persimmon (Diospyros Kaki L.) 'Nishimurawase'. Relationship between developmental stages and numbers of female flower buds and maturity of shoot and leaf were also investigated by their correlation coefficient. Two-year old branches were strapped with covered insulated wires 1.6mm in diameter on 2 weeks before full bloom (BFB) and 1 week after full bloom (AFB). The wire rings were removed at 65 days after strapping.
