To investigate the preharvest and postharvest characteristics, two lettuce cultivars 'Geokchima' and 'Cheongchima' were grown in two soilless culture that had water and perlite as media respectively, and on soil as a control. The preharvest characteristics evaluate were growth parameter, color value, water content, osmolality, leaf resistance, crude fiber, firmness, mineral composition, free sugar content, and ascorbic acid content. The postharvest characteristics evaluated were fresh weight loss, freshness, SPAD value, respiration rate, and total color difference.
