Experimental investigations of microclimate have been carried out in cold and partly winterized (only roof being protected against cold) cowsheds. Dependency of various microclimate parameters on air temperature outside has been determined. It has been established that insulation of the cowshed roof is not highly effective way to increase temperature inside the cowshed, and that scraper transporters can be used for manure removal from cold cowsheds in Lithuania. From ecological standpoint cold cowsheds are perspective. In these cowsheds intensity of ammonia emission in wintertime is up to three times lower than in warm months.
