Last years Latvian scientists have seriously given their mind to research of different kinds of biofuels. The already existing technologies for production of biofuels are adapted and the new ones are worked out; the obtained biofuels have been experimentally tested in operation of different internal combustion engines. Our aim was determination of physical parameters (density, kinematic viscosity, flashpoint, content of water, peroxide value, acid value, total contamination and carbon residue) of both different biofuels and their mixtures with fossil diesel according to the requirements of the standard LVS EN 14214. The indicators of physical parameters simultaneously determine quality of the fuel. We used experimental cogeneration equipment to determine the energetic characteristics of biofuels and components of exhaust gas (carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides). Components of exhaust gas were determined with certified exhaust gas analyzer KANE MAY 9106 (calibration certificate No F1362K03 of 13.11.2003).
