The paper present the determinants of preparing of the first Polish checklist of micromycetes and essential data from it. The classification and nomeclature are based on the current literature: papers of Constantinescu (1991), Vanky (1994) and Braun (1995). In the checklist are listed: i) Peronospolares - 239 species of 10 genera, ii) Erysiphales - 116 taxons of 12 gen., iii) Uredinales - 307 species of 29 gen. and iV) smut fungi (Doassansiales, Entorrhizales, Entylomatales, Georgefischeriales, Microbotryales, Tilletiales, Urocystales, Ustilaginales) - 171 species of 28 genera. Beside the correct names of fungi the checklist provides the synonyms and a range of fungal hosts; it presents also the literature data on the occurrence of the taxons in Poland.
