Mirza, S.N.,University of Arid Agriculture, Rawalpindi (Pakistan))Islam, M
The objective of this study was to quantify the seasonal dynamics ofcrude protein, ash and fibre contents in the exotic species of Atriplexcanescens grown as a fodder shrub in the upland Balochistan. Atriplexcanescens contains high crude protein (21 percent) in spring and highmineral content (28 percent) in the late autumn and winter. Resultssuggest that due to the presence of high content of crude protein alongwith high ash content, supplementary feeding will be necessary toovercome deficiencies in the Atriplex canescens as a stock feed. Thisspecies has a potential to be used for the revegetation of wastelands withenvironmental and social advantage.
