In order to study the response of different wheat cultivars to variousnitrogen levels, an experiment was conducted at Malkandher Research Farm,NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar, during 1998-99. The experimentwas laid out in randomized complete block (RCB) design with split plotarrangements having three replications. Eight doses of nitrogen (0, 30, 60,90, 120, 150, 180, 210 kg ha-1) and. four varieties of wheat (Bakhtawar-92,Tatara-96, Fakhr-e- Sarhad, and Inqilab-91) were studied during theexperiment. The data showed that number of tiller M-2, plant height, spikelength, grains spike-1, days to maturity, 1000 grain weight, grain yieldand harvest index was significantly affected by various doses of nitrogenlevels. Various varieties of wheat significantly affected days to flowering, spike length and days to maturity. Interaction between nitrogen andvarieties showed a non-significant effect.
