Investigations on the structure, dynamics and distribution of Oligochaeta in a recovering lake (L. Lekuk Wielki, North-East Poland)

Oligochaeta communities of eutrophic Lake Lekuk Wielki were studied in 1997-99. Nine species belonging to families Tubificidae and Naididae were identified. Potamothrix hammoniensis dominated among oligochaetes in abundance and biomass. Taxonomic diversity decreased with increasing depth in the lake, and only at the deepest site oligochaetes were absent. Data based on worm species suggested abatement of eutrophication and improvement of benthic conditions of the lake
