A pot experiment, at two levels of moisture of soil: 40 percent field-water capacities (water stress) and 80 percent field-water capacities (optimum moisture) was undertaken to investigate the yielding and chemical composition Lolium perenne cv. Maja and Argona and Dactylis glomerata cv. Areda and Dala. The study found that water stress had a significant influence on the yielding and content of total protein, crude fibre, nitrogen and potassium in biomass analysed cultivars, and did not differ in the content of crude ash, phosphorus, calcium and sodium
