318 Black-and-White bulls were evaluated in 2002 for type, conformation and reproductive usefulness. Bulls originated from 13 states and private stations. The analysis referred to the country of sire origin, assessment of conformation, reproductive usefulness and the use of the young bulls. The study showed that for the for single-purpose dairy type, the best scores for dairy character (6.9 and 7.0 points) were obtained by bulls of Canadian, Italian and American origin. The mean differences in stature between foreign and Polish (134.5 cm) bulls ranged from 1.5 (Austrian bulls) to 3 cm (Italian bulls). Also, small differences were observed in chest girth, where the Polish bulls (178 cm) differed by 3 (Austrian bulls) to 6.4 cm (German bulls). A total of 37 bulls were rejected (11.6 percent of all animals). The number of bulls sent to service stations were 13 Canadian, 13 American, 7 French and 1 each of Polish, Dutch and German. Most of the bulls used in artificial insemination represented the USA, Canada and France (11.9-29.6 percent), attesting to the great importance of imported bulls in Polish breeding
