The aim of the paper was evaluation the results of growth and slaughter traits of young two-breed crossbreds boars according to their growth rate, i.e. low or high daily gains of body weight standardized on 180th day of life. The animals were performance tested in 2000 in the region activity of Regional Animal Breeding Centre in Bydgoszcz (Poland). The statistical analysis included 1806 young boars coming from 7 crossing variants (where breed or line of sow was given in first position and boar in second position) while low and high daily gains of body weight were observed among the Belgian Landrace x Duroc (from 626 to 625 g), Hampshire x Belgian Landrace (from 561 to 560 g), Hampshire x Pietrain (from 603 to 602 g), Pietrain x Hampshire (from 638 to 637 g), Duroc x Pietrain (from 622 to 621 g), Pietrain x Duroc (from 638 to 637 g), Line 990 x Pietrain (from 551 to 550 g). Young crossbred boars coming from all tested crossing variants characterized by lower growth rate obtained significantly lower body weight on performance test day compared with pigs with high daily gains of body weight. In a three young boar groups, i.e. Pietrain x Hampshire, Pietrain x Duroc and Line 990 x Pietrain it was stated that animals characterized by lower growth rate had higher body meat content. Regarding the young boars coming from other crossing variants, there were no stated significant differences between groups with different growth rate. Young crossbred boars of all tested groups characterized by high growth rate obtained higher performance test selection index value when compared with the animals with low daily gains of body weight
