Effects of molybdenum and Zinc application and bradyrhizobium inoculation on growth and yield of groundnut (arachis hypogaea L.). I. nodulation, leaf nutrient content and biomass production

The effects of bradyrhizobia inoculation and zinc and molybdenum application on groundnut leaf N, Mo and Zn content, nodulation and total dry weight were investigated in the alkaline soil (pH 7.8) of Shambat area in the Sudan during 1994/95 and 1995/96 growing seasons. Leaf N content was positively related to rhizobia effectiveness, and leaf Mo content was negatively related to rhizobia effectiveness. Inoculation with Bradyrhizobium strain "IC7001" gave the highest values of leaf Zn content. Increase in Applied Mo and Zn levels increased their contents in leaves. the lowest level of Zn (2.79 ppm) gave the highest value of total dry weight at harvest time
