Anvil 5 SC (active ingredient, hexaconazole) was applied to rice at rates of 37.5, 50 and 75 g ai/ha to control a range of pathogens which cause grain discoloration. Trials were carried out in farmer field at Pathumthani province. First applications were made at 5 percent heading and these were followed by a second application 15 days later, at the milk stage. Disease assessments were made 15 days before harvest. All rates of Anvil 5 SC significantly reduced grain infection compared to the untreated check. At the site with high disease pressure, all treatments reduced grain discoloration and improved grain weight, however, yield was not significantly increased by any of the treatments at either site.
