Objectives of this study were to investigate a separation procedure of un-husked paddy from milled rice, to develop a paddy separator and to evaluate the machine performance. The machine performance was evaluated at various percentage of mixed paddy: 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 percent, and 3 compartment tilt angle: 4, 5 and 6 degrees, at fixed stroke and feed rate. The study was conducted at Department of Agricultural Mechanization, Faculty of Agriculture Bangphra, Sriracha, Chonburi. The results showed that higher compartment tilt angle brought about higher separation rate and efficiency, but lower the milled rice purity. The highest effectiveness of separation was found at 5 degree tilt angle. Increasing the tilt angle decreased the milled rice purity. However, decreasing the tilt angle resulted in higher loss of milled rice in paddy outlet. The higher percentage of mixed paddy did not result in significant differences in separation rate, efficiency, milled rice purity and effectiveness, but they tended to decrease. The finding revealed that the suitable tilt angle of the compartment for separation of unhusked paddy from khaw dork mali 105 milled rice at 96 rpm speed was 5 degree with 1-9 percent mixed paddy. This resulted in high effectiveness, purity, effeciency and separation rate. The separation rate per each compartment was also 42.83 kilogram of milled rice per hour.
