Seasonal abundance of adult citrus thrips, Scirtothrips aurantii Faure (Thysanoptera:Thripidae) was studied over a three year period. Weekly monitoring using yellow card traps was conducted in different orchards in the Mpumalanga Province from 1992-1995. Scirtothrips aurantii numbers started to build up during September, which is the end of the flowering period, and reached a peak during October or November when small fruits were present on the trees. Low numbers were present from June util August.
